[Avalon turns their video on to reveal that they are sitting at their desk. They fold their hands in their lap, and the beads on their bracelet click against each other, out of the view of the camera.]

I bet. Not that I know what you're used to--'cause I don't--but I can't imagine this place is like anything anyone is used to.

True. The Barge is too quiet. Though it is becoming home, and I am coming to fit it.

Quiet is not a word I'd use to describe the Barge but I suppose it's all relative. Plus there's different kinds of quiet.

If you're figuring it out, though, then good for you. It usually takes people a while to adjust.

In my home world, I never stayed in one place for long. And since you are my new Warden, I suppose I should tell you—my powers were removed. That is why the Barge is quiet. I no longer have the senses I used to.

Okay, that explains a lot.

And for what it's worth--you don't have to tell me anything. Obviously, the more I know, the easier it'll be for me to understand what you might need but you're not required to say anything you don't want to.

On the flipside, technically I don't have to tell you anything about me either, but I'm pretty much an open book. If you got questions, just ask.

[They consider that. They have bluntly told several people here what they have done, and to their naked mind, Nick does not seem like the kind of person they could kill or the kind of person they should tell. So they stick to the middle ground.]

I have been around for a long time. [Their hand goes to the place where their missing bead should be.] I have a certain failure in my past that I want to correct, and I lack most of the emotions that humans seem to possess. Do with that what you will.

[Honestly, Nick doesn't hear anything that sounds different from other stories he's heard on the barge. Obviously a couple of vague statements doesn't tell him much and he assumes there's a whole lot more to the story. Still, there's nothing so far that sets off any warning bells.

What I'll do with it is keep it in mind for possible future reference. In the meantime, let me explain my approach to being a warden. I'm here as a resource. I'm here to help. I'm here as something of a safety net. What I'm not here to do is babysit.
